Abedi Pele excited to meet Kotoko in FA Cup final

Ghana legend Abedi Ayew 'Pele' says his Nania FC side respect Asante Kotoko but will not be pushovers in the MTN FA Cup final on 24 July.

The three-time African Player of the Year award was on the touchline as his second-tier side triumphed on penalties over league champions Berekum Chelsea for a final slot.

Pele insists Kotoko remains one of Africa's finest but his side have equal chances of winning the trophy and representing Ghana in next year's Caf Confederations Cup.

He told Accra-based Peace FM: "I won't say we will beat them but it is a game. It is just one game and not a two legged affair. We will do our best on the pitch and see. Kotoko is feared in Africa but we will do our best and play them."

"Asante Kotoko is one of the biggest clubs in Africa. You can compare them to Ahli, Zamalek, TP Mazembe and all the big clubs. They are known everywhere."

Kotoko qualified for the finals after beating Wa All Stars 5-4 on penalties last Wednesday.
