Abedi Pele open to Black Stars coaching job

Abedi Pele refuses the shut the door on the future possibility of coaching the Black Stars.

The 47-year-old rose to become a Ghana legend after making his debut for the senior national team as a 16-year-old.

He won the Nations Cup as a teenager and subsequently captained the side where he racked up an impressive 73 caps for the Black Stars.

He also won several league championships and the prestigious Champions League title with Olynpique Marseille.

And now coaching his Division One club, Nania FC where he claimed the FA Cup after beating giants Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea, Pele reckons he can coach the Black Stars though not immediately on his mind.

"Coaching the Black Stars has never passed through my mind but in life you never say never," he said.

"Maybe when there is a vacancy they can say take the team for two months and you never know what will happen."

Pele, regarded as the greatest Ghanaian player won the prestigious African Player of Year award on three consecutive occasions.
