AC Milan could make an offer for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco, although the Rossoneri are also thought to be targeting Atalanta star Josip Ilicic.
The 2020/21 season was another challenging one for Isco at Real, starting only eight La Liga games and failing to score all season for the first time in his illustrious career.
The 29-year-old playmaker has regularly been reported as one of a number of players that Real are keen to sell in order to raise funds for their own transfer activity in recent years.
Isco now only has one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu and this summer promises to be the club’s last real opportunity to sell him before he becomes available as a free agent.
AS’s Italian correspondent Mirko Calemme claims Real are aware they will have to sell Isco and hope to receive an offer of €20m. However, they may be open to lowering that price tag and it is pointed out that Milan, who have lost Hakan Calhanoglu to rivals Inter, are in the market for a player of his profile.
An agreement over salary is suggested to be possible and the clubs will even have an opportunity to meet when they face each other in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.
But Isco is not the only attacking player the Rossoneri could look to. There is growing speculation that Ilicic could swap Bergamo for Milan, with Corriere dello Sport reporting that the club are paying ‘careful’ attention to the player’s situation.
Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has already confirmed that Ilicic wants to leave, creating an opportunity for interested clubs to sign him if an agreement is reached.
The 33-year-old Slovenian international has played a major part in Atalanta’s rise in recent seasons, peaking with 21 goals in all competitions during the 2019/20 campaign.
