AC Milan boss Fillipo Inzaghi has given a strong indication of his preference for Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari by handing him the captain's armband in their pre-season tournament against English giants Manchester City.

The 29-year-old scrolled onto the pitch at the Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, leading the Milan side as they go seeking for their first pre-season win since arriving in the USA.

After sitting out of the four previous games played, Muntari was named in the Milan squad for the first and Inzaghi, who took charge after the departure of Clarence Seedorf, named him as his captain for the game.

In a strong squad that excluded Mario Balotelli and Michael Essien, Muntari is expected to marshal the Rossoneri midfield.
