AC Milan prepare to extend contract of star keeper

Published on: 14 July 2016

The agent of young AC Milan prodigy Gianluigi Donnarumma, Mino Raiola, will travel to the city to discuss a contract extension for the club’s star keeper.

Following a breakout season where the 17-year-old keeper proved he has world class potential, and has become one of the Rossoneri’s most valuable young players, it is no surprise that his employers want to keep him at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Raiola will arrive in Milan to extend the length of his client’s contract to keep him in between the sticks until 2019.

While the new agreement is reportedly close to being finished, both parties are expected to delay making any official announcements until after the keeper turns 18 in February, removing the legal restraints that protect underage players.

Donnarumma will also receive a significant salary increase, reported to be at least €1 million per year but could be as high as €1.5m.
