AC Milan target Monaco striker in case of Higuain departure

AC Milan have returned to the idea of signing Monaco forward Radamel Falcao should Gonzalo Higuain leave the club this month.

The 32-year-old was among the players the Rossoneri targeted this summer, before eventually landing the Argentine from Serie A rivals Juventus.

With speculation rife regarding the future of Higuain at Milan the Italian newspaper Leggo understands the club will turn to Falcao as a replacement for the experienced goalscorer.

Falcao has been part of an underachieving Monaco side this campaign, with the same publication stating the Colombian is keen on leaving the Ligue 1 side in January.

Milan are hoping to exploit the communication channels they have maintained with Monaco, due in part to the negotiations for the Monegasques yongster Leroy Abanda Mfomo.

The arrival of former Monaco scout Geoffrey Moncada at Milan has also granted the club greater access to the player’s profile, one which has always interested the Diavolo.

Falcao has scored seven goals in 16 league appearances for Monaco so far this season.
