AC Milan vice-president delighted with midfielder’s form

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is not surprised with Keisuke Honda’s recent performances, saying this is what he expected when he signed the Japanese star.

The 29-year-old joined the Rossoneri in January 2014 as a free agent and has since lived some turbulent times at Stadio San Siro, training under four different coaches in two years.

“Honda is a very smart person,” Galliani said ahead of Lega Serie A assembly held in Milan.

“He has a different mentality, but is able to express his opinion clearly.

“I’m sure he is a great player, that’s why I really wanted to sign him. He never asked to leave Milan, in fact he wants to stay and is proving his worth.

“He has been playing very well recently, making lots of sacrifices to help the team.”

Honda seems now to have earned a permanent place in the coach Sinisa Mihajlovic’s 4-4-2 formation as a right wing, delivering three assists in the last seven games, notably the one which led to Alex’s opener in the 3-0 win over Inter in the Derby della Madonnina.
