A bad knee injury has ruled striker Ben Acheampong out of Ghana's campaign for the All Africa Games, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The new Asante Kotoko signing picked up the injury while training with the team on Monday and would be out for an estimated 4-6 weeks.

A South Africa-based specialist says he would need physiotherapy to recover from the injury.

The 22-year-old is expected to arrive in Ghana on Saturday to begin his journey to full recovery.

The situation deepens the woes of coach Akwasi Appiah whose team has suffered several withdrawals for various reasons.

Ghana have been drawn in a tough group alongside Cameroon, Senegal and Uganda and plays it’s first game against Senegal on Sunday.
