Adiyiah's perseverance paid off in Lesotho drubbing

Published on: 03 June 2012

Ghana striker Dominic Adiyiah claims his irrepressible confidence ensured he grabbed a brace in Friday's 7-0 drubbing of Lesotho in a 2104 World Cup qualifier.

The AC Milan-player who spent the last six months on loan at Arsenal Kyiv- ensured he announced his return to the Black Stars with a bang.

Adiyiah missed a lot of scoring chances before finally finding the back of the net in the 25th and 50th minutes respectively.

"You shouldn't give up as a striker," Adiyiah said.

"You have to keep the concentration high. You can miss numerous chances but you have to try to score. I missed the first time but tried and scored.''

Adiyiah has failed to meet expectations after winning the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup Most Valuable Player and Top scorer awards.

He has played on loan at Reggina and Partizan Belgrade.
