Adriansyah: We will focus on finishing third

Tabriz: Indonesia’s Firman Adriansyah has vowed to perform better when the Southeast Asians vie for a third place finish at the AFC U-20 Futsal Championship IR Iran 2019.

In the semi-final against Afghanistan on Thursday, Indonesia came back from a goal down twice to force the game into extra time.

Seyed Hossein Mousavi and Dawood Yousufi then gave the Central Asians a two-goal lead, which compelled the young Garuda to go on the offensive with Muhammad Sanjaya scoring in the final minute to reduce their deficit, but it was too little too late.

Adriansyah admitted that his performance dropped during the last period, which cost them the game.

“I don’t think I gave my best in the game, and lost concentration towards the end, especially during the power play.”

Semi-final: Afghanistan v Indonesia

Indonesia have performed superbly throughout their IR Iran 2019 campaign which included an emphatic 6-3 win over Chinese Taipei and edging 2017 runners-up Iraq 2-1 to top Group D.

They then went on to beat Southeast Asian rivals Vietnam in the quarter-finals to make their first appearance in the semi-finals.

Their journey is not over yet, as they play host nation Islamic Republic of Iran in the third place play-off on Saturday.

“The team is definitely feeling sad right now, but we will focus on finishing third.

“And my next target is to become the champions in the next tournament," said Adriansyah.
