PROFILE
Despite approaching the latter stages of his career Brosque remains an integral part of the Sydney FC forward line.

Born to Uruguayan parents, the 32-year-old burst onto the scene in the old National Soccer League with Marconi before an injury-blighted stint in Belgium was cut short and he returned home to make his name as a dynamic playmaker for Brisbane Roar and Sydney.

Two successful seasons in the J.League with Shimizu S.Pulse were followed by a spell in the U.A.E with Al Ain before returning ‘home’ to the Sky Blues ahead of the 2014/15 A-League season.

With AFC Champions League experience at both Sydney FC, where he was a mainstay of the first Australian team to compete in Asia in 2007, and with Al Ain, Brosque will be called on to lead the way as Sydney look to reach the knockout stages for the first time.

IMPORTANCE TO THE TEAM
A natural left-footer Brosque is a highly versatile player who has spent time playing across central midfield, in wider roles, as a creative hub ‘in the hole’ and in his current position as a central striker.

In Graham Arnold’s 4-2-3-1 he’ll line up ahead of the attacking trio of David Carney, Milos Ninkovic and Andrew Hoole but will also drop back to link up with those deeper playmakers.

ONES TO WATCH
David Carney’s unexpected recent return to the club he began his domestic career with has given the team a cutting edge on the left of the attacking midfield three while 21-year-old Brandon O’Neill has been a revelation as one of the two holding midfielders and 26-year-old central defender Matthew Jurman provides a calming presence at the back.
