PROFILE
Central midfielder Moon Chang-jin has steadily established himself as one of the up-and-coming stars of the game in Korea Republic having climbed through the ranks at Pohang Steelers.

After two seasons of steady progress in the K-League Classic, he was central to Korea Republic’s run to the final of the AFC U23 Championship in Qatar at the start of 2016, when his goals from midfield ensured Shin Tae-yong’s team qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Moon was also a member of the Korean team that won the AFC U19 Championship in 2012 and he was also a member of the Pohang squad that won the Korean FA Cup the same year.

IMPORTANCE TO TEAM
Moon’s high energy levels mean he can play in a deep-lying role in midfield and also support the attack from deep, either with his runs forward or with his deft range of passing. He has the ability to chip in with vital goals, too.

ONES TO WATCH
Forward Shim Dong-woon score all three goals in their 3-0 play-off win over Hanoi T&T of Vietnam while 23-year-old Son Jun-ho is a promising midfielder. Goalkeeper Shin Hwa-yong already knows what it’s like to taste continental glory having helped the club to the 2009 AFC Champions League title.
