Dhaka: Mohamed Umair and Abdulla Asadhulla were on the scoresheet as Maziya Sports & Recreation got their 2017 AFC Cup Group E campaign off to a winning start following a 2-0 victory over Abahani Limited Dhaka of Bangladesh on Tuesday.
Umair put Maldivians Maziya in front early on at Bangabandhu National Stadium when he latched onto an Imaaz Ahmed throughball before finishing low into the bottom left corner.
But it took Maziya until three minutes from time to kill the game off when captain Asadhulla charged through on goal and produced a composed finish to wrap up all three points.
