Singapore: S.League side Tampines Rovers opened up their 2016 AFC Cup campaign in style with a 4-0 win over AFC Cup debutants Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club of Bangladesh on Tuesday.
Having gone four games without a win, including a 3-1 defeat by Indian champions Mohun Bagan in the AFC Champions League play-offs, Tampines shook off their slump in emphatic style in the Group E clash at Jalan Besar Stadium as striker Billy Mehmet opened the scoring inside two minutes before Hafiz Sujad added a second on 33 minutes.
Afiq Yunos then made it 3-0 just seven minutes after the restart before an own goal from Sheikh Jamal’s Topu Barman on 54 minutes ended any doubt of the outcome.
