AFC Member Associations grateful for change in meeting date

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) meeting which was originally scheduled for February 25 in Zurich to consider the proposed FIFA reforms was brought forward by one week at the request of the AFC Executive Committee.

The reason for this was to allow the AFC Member Associations the opportunity - as agreed and announced at the Executive Committee in Doha in late January - to spend more time understanding and debating these important reforms.

Dato’ Windsor John, the AFC General Secretary, said: "The Executive Committee members felt that it was only right that a significant amount of time should be dedicated to discussing these reforms which are vital to the future of FIFA ahead of the FIFA Congress on February 26.

'It was the Executive Committee who suggested the meeting take place in Kuala Lumpur this week, which it did, and more than three hours were spent discussing the reforms so that all the AFC Member Associations could fully understand what they were being asked to vote for in Zurich.”
