Afeez Aremu joins St Pauli in Germany:

Nigerian international midfielder Afeez Aremu has completed a switch from Norwegian side IK Start to St Pauli in Germany.

The midfielder passed his medical on Sunday and signed a three-year on Monday, keeping him with the Bundesliga II side until the summer of 2023.

St Pauli Sports director Andreas Bornemann: “Afeez Aremu corresponds to the profile that we were still looking for for the defensive midfield. He brings athleticism and aggressiveness in duels and despite his young age has already gained a lot of professional experience. That’s why we believe that he will join us will not be difficult with us.”

St Pauli Head coach Timo Schultz: “With Afeez we get an element that was missing in the squad so far. He is the type of dynamic ‘clearer’ that I wanted. He has already completed several seasons at a high level and is in his Age at the same time still capable of development.”

Afeez Aremu: “I’m glad I’m finally here. When the offer came from St. Pauli, I didn’t have to think twice. It’s a big club and for me the change is the next important step in my development. Now I can I can’t wait to get to know my teammates and start working.”

The 20-year-old Nigerian moved from Ghanaian side Inter Allies FC to Norway at the beginning of 2018, where he played for IK Start in a total of 63 competitive games (5 goals, 1 assist).

In addition, Aremu completed three games for the Nigerian U20 national team and also featured for the Nigeria Super Eagles B team that placed 2nd in the WAFU tournament, in 2017.
