Ghana duo Harrison Afful and Emmanuel Clottey were in action for Esperance on Saturday as they qualified to the Group stage of the CAF Champions League.

The Tunisian side beat JSM Bejaia 1-0 at the Rades Stadium to progress by the same aggregate scoreline after drawing 0-0 in the first leg.

Afful, who played full-throttle, gave the pass which led to Youssef Belaili being fouled inside the box for a penalty.

Captain Khalil Chammam converted the spot-kick after 76 minutes in a hotly-contested match at the Rades Stadium.

Guinean referee Yakhouba Keita pointed to the spot which led to protest from the Bejaia players.

Clottey was brought on by coach Maher Kanzari in 67th minute to replace striker Jouini.

Esperance, two-time winners, will be making their 12th appearance in the mini-stage of the competition since 199.

The Blood and Gold were beaten in the final last year by Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
