Africa awaits tenth World Cup playoff side as FIFA verdict over South Africa protest in Ghana game looms

FIFA is expected to announce its decision from the review of the Ghana versus South Africa match last week after SAFA lodged a complaint over poor officiating. 

Ghana's victory over the Bafana Bafana, which secured the West African country a playoff spot in the qualifier, has been shrouded with controversies.

South Africa reported Senegalese referee Ndiaye Maguette to FIFA and are also demanding a replay of the match over claims that the game was "fixed".

FIFA confirmed receipt of South Africa's complaint last week and disclosed a decision will be made after Ghana had submitted its response before November 23, 2021.

This has left both Ghana and South Africa waiting anxiously as Africa's tenth playoff spot remains undecided.

Although, the Black Stars progressed to the playoffs with the victory in Cape Coast. A final verdict from FIFA Will determine if Ghana will be in the playoffs or a replay of the match will be effected.
