Afriyie Acquah joins ex-Palermo teammates to raise funds for needy families in Italy

Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah has joined his former Palermo teammates to raise funds for the needy family in the city amid the coronavirus pandemic. 

The 28-year-old, who spent two seasons at the club between 2011-2013, joined former players of the team to give back to the people.

Twenty-five players and coach united by a common post "Together for Palermo" have launched a fundraising for the people.

The city of Palermo is in need of food aid amid the coronavirus crisis  with 11,000 people requiring basic necessities.

In partnership with the supported by the Sicily, which has already donated 50,000 euros, the meal vouchers will be distributed to the needy family.

Acquah together with former players including Balzaretti, Sirigu, Ilicic, Miccoli, Benussi, Brichetto, Carrozzieri, Cassani, Bovo, Darmian, Kjaer, Zaccardo, Blasi, Guana, Ilicic, Liverani, Migliaccio, Nocerino, Pastore, Simplicio, Amauri, Budan, Pinilla, Succi and former coach Francesco Guidolin are working hard to restore dignity to the people.

" Palermo is a city that has welcomed us with so much love, it is right to give back part of this affection - explains Federico Balzaretti - Covid-19 is not only a health problem, but also a social one. The Municipality of Palermo has received  many requests for help for basic necessities. With the proceeds collected we will donate shopping vouchers to families who need them . "

Ghana international Afriyis Acquah is currently in the books of Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor.
