Midfielder Afriyie Acquah aims to develop his football career just like his idol, Michael Essien.
The 20-year-old has just joined Italian side Parma on loan from rival Serie-A outfit Palermo.
The former DC United player is eyeing a regular spot in the Parma team and recognizes it will take a lot of hard work to come anywhere close to emulating the achievement of his role model.
"My frame of reference is Michael Essien but I have a deep admiration for Pirlo,†he said.
“I have come to Parma to work hard and deserve the starting spot.â€
The former Ghana youth international could join Parma on a permanent deal if he impresses during his loan stint.
