Ghanaian attacker Samuel Afum recovered from a muscle tear to make second half appearance for Young Boys in their 0-0 stalemate with FC Sion in the Swiss Super League on Sunday.

Afum came off the bench as a 64th minute replacement for Swedish striker Alexander Gerndt at the STADE DE SUISSE Wankdorf Bern.

Young Boys were toothless upfront as they failed to provide any real threat for the opposition.

But the introduction of the former Hearts of Oak striker brought urgency into their play and he nearly broke the deadlock on the 79th minute mark but his powerful low drive was blocked off the line by AC Milan legend Genaro Gattuso.

The 23-year-old missed last weekend's 3-0 defeat at FC Basel due to the injury he suffered during warm-up for the game against St. Gallen a fortnight ago.

However Afum returned to full scale training on Tuesday and Boys manager Martin Reuda named him in his final 18-man squad for the game but he had to start from the bench.
