Ghana coach Akonnor accepts scatching criticism after 3-0 hammering against Mali

Charles Akonnor said he had to take criticism 'in good faith' after the Black Stars were humiliated by Mali.

The Black Stars were beaten 3-0 last Friday in what was Akonnor's first game since taking charge of the team in January.

The team was poor in every aspect. The defence was easily breached, the midfielders failed to dominate while the attackers couldn’t produce a shot on target.

"I can understand their disappointment. I have read a bit of their comments and it's disturbing but, nobody asked me to be a Coach, that is what we are made of.

I have accepted the criticisms in good faith. I am a Ghanaian and I want to go the Ghanaian way but things would change and we will enjoy watching the team again," Akonnor told GFA media ahead of Qatar game.

Akonnor will be hoping for improved performance and win against the Asian champions on Monday evening.

The two friendly games are part of the Black Stars' preparations for next month double-header Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.
