Akonnor excited to have France-born Alexander Djiku in Black Stars

Black Stars Charles Akonnor has expressed excitement after succeeding in convincing defender Alexander Djiku to represent Ghana.

The 26-year-old had two options, France and Ghana as he was born in the European country to Ghanaian parents.

But he has pledged his international future to Ghana and has received his debut call-up.

He has been invited for the friendly match against Mali, which will be played on October 10 in Turkey.

I am personally excited about him because, at a point in time, we were not sure if he really wanted to come," Akonnor said.

He didn’t have a problem switching nationality but the decision to come to play. Now he has decided to come and so am very much excited about it.
