Akwasi Appiah: Asamoah needs encouragement to regain form

Akwasi Appiah has admitted to the stale form of Kwadwo Asamoah but says the Udinese man needs absolute  support in order to improve.

The 23-year-old has seen a massive dip in form since emerging as one of Ghana's best players at the last Nations Cup in Angola - casting doubts over his role in the Black Stars for the upcoming CAN in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Assistant Coach Akwasi Appiah however says lots of encouragement for the midfielder is needed to help the ex Liberty Professionals player regain the scintillating form that once made him the talk of the world.

"It is true Kwadwo (Asamoah) has not live up to the reputation he set during the last Nations Cup," he told Accra-based Asempa FM.

"We however have to keep encouraging him in helping him regains his form again.

"It is a collective effort and all of us need to support the young man during this period."

Appiah is also adamant Asamoah who has been named in Ghana's provisional 25-man squad for a training tour of South Africa will play in integral part on the Black Stars campaign in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

"He (Asamoah) is one of the highly skillful players we have in the squad who can play various positions therefore he will be very important for us at the Nations Cup," he added.
