Akwasi Appiah to coach Ghana U23 at All Africa Games

Published on: 28 July 2011

Black Stars assistant coach Akwasi Appiah will lead the national Under-23 at this year's All Africa Games finals, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

"The All Africa Games is the only remaining competition left for the team and so he has been given the double assignment in addition to his Black Stars assistant job," Ghana Under-23 management committee head Randy Abbey told GHANAsoccernet.com

The ex-Black Stars captain took temporary charge of the team and secured qualification at the expense of rivals Nigeria.

The Black Meteors beat the Dream Team V 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium last month to cancel out a 3-1 first leg defeat.

Ghana are in Group B at the multi-sport event alongside defending champions Cameroon, Uganda and Senegal.

The tournament will be played from 3-18 September in Maputo, Mozambique.
