Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC made a huge step towards the CAF Champions League finals as they beat Wydad AC at away in the semi-finals first leg.

Al Ahly recorded an emphatic 2-0 victory at the Complexe Sportif Mohamed V in Casablanca on Saturday.

The visitors got their noses in front as early as the 4th minute through Mohamed Madgi Afsha with a sublime finish after benefiting from a defensive error by Yahya Jabrane.

Wydad got the chance to get back into the game as they were awarded a penalty after goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy brought down Gbagbo Junior Magbi inside the box.

Badie Aouk failed to convert from the spot as El Shenawy parried the kick away with a fine save two minutes from halftime.

The Red Devils doubled their lead in the 62nd minute after Tunisian international Ali Maaloul scored from the spot.

Brahim Najmeddine handled the ball inside the box leading to the penalty.

Pitso Mosimane and his men host Wydad on Friday 23 October 2020 at the Cairo International Stadium in the second leg of the semi-final tie.
