Al Wasl close to signing Berekum Chelsea jewel Clottey

United Arab Emirates side Al-Wasl are reported to be leading the race to sign Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey, according to the Albayannewspaper. Â 

The 24-year-old has become a target of most clubs after leading the 2012 CAF Champions League scorers chart with 12 goals from ten matches.

"Clottey is close to signing with Al-Wasl after two weeks of negotiations between the two parties. The official announcement of the deal could be in the next few hours," Albayan reported on Wednesday.

"The contact with Clottey came at the request of French coach Bruno Metsu, who is convinced of his abilities," the publication added,

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have also expressed interest in capturing the 2007 Ghana Premier League goal king. .

Last week, Italian Serie A side AS Roma were reported to have tabled a bid for the Ghana international striker.

Clottey  has already played abroad for Austrian side FC Wacker Innsbruck and OB Odense in Denmark  between 2007 and 2008.
