Alaves vs Real Madrid line-ups: Militao and Hazard need to respond

Published on: 23 January 2021

Zinedine Zidane has kept faith with centre-back Eder Militao for Real Madrid's match against Alaves at the Estadio Mendizorroza on Saturday night, despite the Brazilian being part of a defence that conceded two goals in their Copa del Rey humiliation away at Alcoyano in midweek.

The Brazilian will be partnered by Raphael Varane, with Lucas Vazquez filling in once again at right-back.

Real Madrid have gone for their tried-and-tested trio of Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in midfield, while Eden Hazard will be looking to finally step up in attack.

Zidane will not be on the touchline for Real Madrid as he has COVID-19, so David Bettoni will be responsible for motivating the players.

Alaves' starting XI: Fernando Pacheco; Ximo Navarro, Victor Laguardia, Florian Lejeune, Ruben Duarte; Edgar Mendez, Tomas Pina, Rodrigo Battaglia, Luis Rioja; Joselu, Lucas Perez.

Real Madrid's starting XI: Thibaut Courtois; Lucas Vazquez, Raphael Varane, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy; Luka Modric, Casemiro, Toni Kroos; Marco Asensio, Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard.
