Middlesbrough new signing Albert Adomah has sheepishly apologised to the club's fans for his sizzling shows against them in the past.
The club's new £1m signing caught the eye of Riverside regulars with a string of regular goal-scoring man of the match displays over the past three seasons while he was at Bristol City.
“Yes, I am sorry about that,†he laughed today. “I used to like playing against Boro and I think I always did well. In fact I think I tormented them a few times.
“But now I am going to try to make up for that now I am a Boro player.
"At least Boro supporters can watch me try to do that to other teams and enjoy me now.â€
Tony Mowbray has previously expressed his hopes that Adomah - who has pulled out of a friendly international with Ghana to concentrate on settling in at his new club - can excite fans.
“Albert is a creative wide player who can run up and down the right wing, cause teams problems with his speed and his trickery," the Boro manager has said.
Adomah was the player Boro fans most wanted to sign this summer in the Gazette's end-of-season Boro survey earlier in the summer.
He scored in both games last season as Bristol City recorded a double over Boro - a 3-1 win at the Riverside and a 2-0 victory at Ashton Gate.
“When I look at Middlesbrough as a club, walking around the training facilities, it’s Premier League quality compared to other Championship clubs where I’ve been,â€Â he told the Gazette last week.
