Ghana winger Albert Adomah is set to face competition for a place in the Aston Villa team following the imminent arrival of Joe Bryan from Bristol City.

The Ghana international’s place in Aston Villa’s starting line-up could be under threat, with BBC Sport suggesting that Joe Bryan is set to join.

Villa have had a bid accepted for the Bristol City left-back, which puts Adomah’s position in doubt.

Adomah has lined up as Villa’s left wing-back for much of pre-season so far, with Steve Bruce switching to a 3-5-2.

It could be that this tactical change has prompted Bruce to go for a new left-wing back, who is more comfortable in the position.

The 30 year old  has played most his career in a more advanced role down the flank, as a left-winger.

Bryan, on the other hand, is a very attacking left-back and would offer Villa more defensively stability than they currently have.

Adomah was one of Villa’s brightest players last season, and was a key attacking threat for them.

However, with Bryan set to join, he could be facing the very realistic prospect of sitting on the substitutes’ bench regularly this season.
