Albert Adomah has issued a heartfelt thank you to Bristol City supporters following his £1 million transfer to Middlesbrough.

The Ghana international's on-off-on-off move to Teesside finally came to fruition when he signed a three-year deal for the Championship club after passing a medical at the Riverside and agreeing personal terms.

And the 25-year-old Londoner had a special message for City fans as he exited Ashton Gate, bringing to an end a summer of frenzied media speculation regarding his future.

If Adomah's former Robins team-mate Nicky Maynard incurred the wrath of fans when moving to West Ham United 18 months ago, it seems the former Barnet winger is going with the blessing of supporters who have taken him to their hearts during his three seasons in BS3.

In an exclusive interview, fans favourite Adomah told the Bristol Post: "I'm a different person from Nicky and the circumstances are different.

"He went about things in a different way and I would like to think I've handled all of this the right way.

"I think supporters know when the time is right for a player to leave and that time has come for me.

"I've done three years at Bristol City and the supporters understand my reasons. I know they want me to stay but, at the same time, they probably realise I have to go.

"The fans have always been brilliant to me and I will always appreciate that."
