Alessio: There is no place for Eriksen in Conte’s Inter

Published on: 05 December 2020

Former Juventus and Chelsea assistant coach Angelo Alessio has said that there is no room for Christian Eriksen in Antonio Conte’s system at Inter.

The Danish international was purchased from English side Tottenham Hotspur in January 2020 but he has not been able to fit into the Nerazzurri team.

However, one of the former Inter coach’s assistants has said that the 28-year-old is struggling due to the 3-5-2 formation than his skills.

“Antonio has a very strong pair of attackers and there is no place for Eriksen playing 3-5-2,” Alessio told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“At the beginning, he tried to insert him in a 3-4-1-2, putting him behind the strikers, but Inter conceded a few too many goals like that, and they returned to the classic 3-5-2.

“The value of the player is not up for discussion, if anything it can be done on the tactical aspect. In that module, there is no room for him.”

Alessio was Conte’s assistant when the Inter coach was in charge of Siena, Juventus, Italy, and Chelsea in the 2010s.
