With 20 goals, Alvaro Gimenez is the top LaLiga 1|2|3 goalscorer for 2018/19. The UD Almeria frontman was at the double on Saturday in a 3-0 win over Albacete BP to clinch the award.
Gimenez didn’t reach double figures until March 30th, but since then he has been in exceptional form, scoring 11 times in the last 10 games including three braces and a hat-trick.
He opened the scoring in twelve matches during the season, more than any other player in LaLiga 1|2|3. His highlight was perhaps May’s treble against Elche CF, which inspired Almeria to a thrilling 5-3 comeback win.
In his debut campaign at the Juegos Mediterraneos he managed his best ever career return. The 20 goals he scored came from just 64 shots, an impressive conversion rate of 31%. From the penalty spot he is also a safe bet, having scored 5 of his 6 attempts.
Gimenez saw off competition Quique Gonzalez (RC Deportivo) and Ruben Castro (UD Las Palmas), who scored 16 and 15 goals respectively to finish on the podium. Former UD Extremadura striker Enric Gallego also netted 15 times before his January move to SD Huesca.
