Marseille have expressed their delight at having convinced Andre Ayew to return to the club over the summer.
The 20-year-old playmaker was hot property during the transfer window, having shone for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup.
His performances in South Africa came off the back of an impressive loan spell at Arles-Avignon last season, a side he helped to secure promotion into Ligue 1.
Reports suggested that his rapid progress had attracted the attention of some of Europe's top clubs, with big-money bids reported to be in the pipeline.
However, having progressed through the academy ranks at Marseille, he returned to Stade Velodrome for the 2010/11 campaign.
The reigning Ligue 1 champions have since handed the African ace an extended contract until 2014 and have increased his salary substantially.
Sensible
Their faith in the youngster has been repaid with goals, including two against Arles on Saturday, and the club's sporting director Jose Anigo is delighted to see Ayew back where he belongs.
Anigo told L'Equipe: "It was easy to talk with Andre because he really loves this club.
"He also has a sensible entourage who made sure they chose the right club for the player.
"When you are young, going abroad it is not necessarily the best thing.
"We didn't pay any money to get him back. He was educated here and that means he deserves to get fair wages. It is only logical.
"His status has now changed, he has more experience. He still has a lot of steps to take, though, as this is just the start."
