Andre Ayew fires Lyon, PSG warning

Marseille midfielder Andre Ayew has warned his side's rivals in France that they will fight for titles as they look to return to European competition next season.

This comes after the former European champions were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the UEFA Champions League by Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Paris St Germain are in line to win the French league title while Marseille will play Lyon in the French Cup final this month.

The 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich was the latest in a miserable run of results for Marseille, who have lost nine of their last ten matches in all competitions.

With Marseille ninth in the league, the focus turns to the French League Cup final against Lyon on 14 April, which is likely to provide OM's best avenue for a return to UEFA competition next term.

"The cup final against Lyon is very important," said Ayew, who is nonetheless confident that Les Phocéens can still salvage their Ligue 1 campaign.

"The league is not over yet. We have the biggest match in France against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday and I think if we can get the victory there, then things can change."

Ayew is the key player for Marseille.
