Swansea City star Andre Ayew has ruled out a move to Sunderland because he has ambitions of playing in UEFA's inter-clubs competitions.

It had been reported that Sunderland were willing to pay a transfer fee of £10m to sign Ayew, but such a move now appears unlikely.

The Black Stars deputy captain played in UEFA champions league as well as Europa league when he was at Marseille and will relish competing again against the continents' best.

"Whether in the 'Big Four' or in a European club, I have the ambition to again play in the European Cup every year like I have experienced with OM,” he said.

"I want to continue to play. I am aware of my qualities, but I do not regret my choice of Swansea.

"We'll see if I stay here next season."

Ayew has a contract at Swansea until 2019 and is yet to win any significant silverware.

However, he finished as top scorer with 12 goals.
