Andre Ayew to extend Marseille contract by one year

Arsenal target Andre Ayew could be in line to extend his contract by a year and stay with Marseille, according to L'Equipe.

The Ghana international has been a revelation over the last number of seasons for Didier Deschamps' side, and has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium amongst other European destinations.

However, despite the January transfer window approaching fast and the 21-year-old attracting attention with his domestic and Champions League form, a switch may be unlikely.

The French newspaper indicates that Ayew has been convinced to add another 12 months to his current deal by Stade Velodrome president Labrune Vincent.

The African attacker's contract with the Ligue 1 club already runs until the summer of 2014, but may be extended even further.

Ayew scored one of the goals in Marseille's miraculous Champions League comeback against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park in midweek where, after being 2-0 down, they won the game 3-2.

The victory ensured a place in the knockout round of Europe's top club tournament, and may be another reason for the Seclin-born forward being willing to extend his contract.

Deschamps can expect to be without Ayew for a lengthy period in the New Year, however, as he will be away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
