Olympique Marseille star Andre Ayew says he is drawing inspiration from great football icons who have worn the No. 10 shirt during their illustrious careers.

Andre, 22, took over the No. 10 shirt at Marseille for the 2012/13 season after Brazilian Brandao left the club last season.

Andre's father, Abedi Ayew 'Pele' excelled in the number 10 jersey with both Marseille, guiding the club to European success in 1992/93 season.

The former Ghana U20 captain says great players who have used the number inspires him.

"Once Brandao left, I thought of the number 10 and it is true that I love the number shirt and I want to wear it. Now I have the opportunity to wear it and it is something great. Many great players have worn, I hope to live up to their level." He told OM.net
