Andujar Oliver: Messi's challenge on Kounde was not worthy of a second yellow card

Published on: 27 February 2021

With Leo Messi already on a yellow card, the Argentine brought down Jules Kounde late in the first half which had Sevilla players furious at a second not being shown.

Yet MARCA's refereeing expert, Juan Andujar Oliver, didn't feel it merited a red card for the Barcelona star.

"You can't show a red card in the duel between Leo [Messi] and Sevilla's Kounde," Andujar Oliver told Radio MARCA.

"The first yellow shown [to Messi] was already harsh," he added.

Messi was shown a caution for a foul on midfielder Fernando, with the No.10 catching the Brazilian with an outstretched foot.
