Anger rising over Gyan's nightclub appearance in Kumasi

Anger is rising among Ghana fans after it emerged that striker Asamoah Gyan headed straight to the nightclub in Kumasi to sing after the Black Stars disappointing result against Sudan.

The Sunderland striker went to the Fox Trap nightclub in Oseikrom to sing at Castro’s launch of his latest album which features Gyan in one of the songs.

Gyan was joined in the nightclub by some Black Stars players after they put up a disappointing display and failed to beat the unfancied Sudanese.

While the said players partied all night, fans of the Black Stars were left alone to cure the severe heartaches as they were confident the World Cup quarter finalists would win the game.

Gyan was even given a standing ovation during Sunday’s game even when he was sent off but when radio stations spread word of his nightclub antics, the love quickly dissipated to fury.

Callers to radio stations in Kumasi heaped abuse on the striker as many questioned why he would choose to launch the album after the country paid for his ticket to travel to Ghana to play for the Black Stars.

Some also questioned the timing and sensitity of his appearance at the nightclub when the Black Stars had just lost the opportunity to take a commanding lead in the group.

Some opined given the disappointing result, Gyan and his other Black Stars team-mates who went to Fox Trap should have shown remorse for their unimpressive showing by judging the mood of the country and avoid the nightclub.

Gyan is no stranger to controversy in his international career especially after missing a crucial penalty at the quarterfinal of the World Cup in South Africa in July.

He nearly walked out of the Black Stars squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008 after he was severely criticized by local pundits on radio.

Since then he has won over his critics with impressive displays for his country and is considered one of Ghana’s key players.
