Midfielder Anthony Annan is amongst a list of players expected to leave Schalke before the start of the European season.

The Ghana international has had very limited first team opportunities since arriving from Rosenborg in 2011.

The 26-year-old was last season farmed out on loan to Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem where he made 21 first team appearances.

Annan’s exploits in the Eredivisie has seen Gelredome outfit move to secure his services on a permanent basis but their offer falls below Schalke’s expectations – dragging the move in the process.

The former Hearts of Oak player alongside; Vasileios Pliatsikas, Alexander Baumjohann and Philip Hofmann are favourites to leave Gelsenkirchen this summer after they all sat out Schalke’s 5-0 win over Magdeburg in their second pre-season friendly on Friday.

All four players were absent during the opening pre-season friendly against AC Milan and are again expected to sit out the next game with Udinese on Sunday.
