Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan admits he needs to find a new club to save him from further embarrassment.

The 26-year-old has been told by his German club Schalke he is surplus to requirement and therefore must find a new club.

Annan who spent last season on loan in Holland with Vitesse Arnhem has not been involved in the club’s pre-season friendly games played so far .

The situation is threatening the former Hearts of Oak enforcer’s place with the Ghana national team, the Black Stars where he has been a consistent regular since 2008.

The defensive midfielder now says he needs to regain regular first team club action before the situation worsens from its already embarrassing state despite having two more years left on his existing deal with Schalke.

"I have not been called up for any pre-season games, it's embarrassing,” he said.

"There has been some contact from clubs but I have two years on my contract with the German club, so we will have to see what happens."

Annan joined Schalke in 2011 after spending four years in Norway where he featured for I.K Start, Stabaek and Rossenborg.

He played for Ghana at the last Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
