Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan was an unused substitute for Schalke 04 which beat rivals Borussia Dortmund 4-3 on penalties to lift the Super Cup on Saturday.

Annan has vowed to fight for a position and remain at the Veltins-Arena despite being told to leave by the club's sporting director.

He has been impressive in the offseason and coach Ralf Rangnick selected him for the Cup match.

Annan recently turned down two offers to price him away from Schalke.

Compatriot Hans Sarpei was not selected in the team.

Neither Schalke nor Dortmund were able to find the net in regulation time and the game headed for shoot-out.

The Royal Blues converted four of their kicks while last season's Bundesliga champions Dortmund scored only three.
