Anthony Annan returns to continue bench spell in Schalke smooth win over Hoffenheim

Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan returned to the Schalke 04 first team squad but warmed the bench in their 4-0 thrashing of TSG Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga on Saturday. 

The former Hearts of Oak midfield fan-belt is yet to play a competitive league game for Schalke this season since his return from injury.

The 27-year-old had not been in the Royal Blues' 18-man squad for all competition since mid-February but manager Jens Keller handed him a place in his 18-man squad for the home tie against Hoffenheim.

Schalke cruised to a commanding victory the Hoffs with Annan's Ghanaian compatriot Kevin-Prince Boateng setting up Nigerian Chinedu Obasi for the third goal of the as Dutch hit-man Klass Huntelaar scored a hat-trick.
