Antoine Griezmann reveals when he will leave Barcelona

Published on: 19 June 2021

Barcelona's Antoine Griezmann says he wants to move to MLS once his contract with the Spanish giants expires in 2024.

The forward is currently away on international duty with France at Euro 2020 where he made his debut in the tournament in his side's opening game win over Germany.

Griezmann joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in a €120m (£103m) move back in 2019, penning a five-year deal that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2024.

Despite still having three years left to run on his contract, the Frenchman is already planning his next move once he leaves Barça and he claims he'd like to move to MLS.

"I still have three years to go, I have to be careful with my line, because at any time I can slip," he told French news outlet Le Figaro. "My contract with Barcelona runs until June 2024 and after that I think it will be the right time to go to the United States.

"I love this country, this culture, the NBA and the desire for discovery guides me, but I also have a family I would love to end my career there but being good on the pitch and winning MLS, not coming in with nothing left in your legs and looking like nothing else on the pitch. meaning."

Antoine Griezmann hasn't quite lived up to expectations in Barcelona

Griezmann has failed to live up to expectations since moving to Barcelona two years ago, notching just 22 goals in 71 La Liga outings.

So far his stay in Catalonia has gleaned just one piece of silverware as Barça were crowned Copa del Rey winners last season following their 4-0 triumph over Athletic Club in April, and he'll no doubt be keen to add to his medal collection before leaving the club.
