Antonio Conte admits his Spurs future will be 'assessed' after Burnley defeat

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has confessed that there will be an enquiry into his future at the club after Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Burnley.

A second-half header from Ben Mee resigned an underwhelming Spurs to a fourth defeat in their last five Premier League games, with their only bright spot coming in last weekend's stunning victory against league leaders Manchester City.

Before that win, Spurs had fallen to Chelsea, Southampton and Wolves, and Wednesday's defeat to Burnley has left them with even more ground to make up in the race for a top-four finish.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Conte confessed that questions will need to be asked about every aspect of the club.

"It's not only tonight," he began. "In the last five games, we have lost four games. It means that there will be an assessment, about the club and about me.

"I think, for me, it's very frustrating to lose four games in the last five games, for sure. The situation is this. The situation speaks clear.

"I'm really sorry for the fans, especially for the fans, because they don't deserve this, but when you lose four games in the last five games, it means you have to make an assessment. The club has to make an assessment also, to speak together and to understood what is the best solution."

He continued: "In this situation, the players are always the same. The club changes the coaches, but the players are always the same, but the result doesn't change.

"I'm too honest to accept this type of situation, and for sure we will have an assessment with the club. It's not right, it's not good for everybody to continue to lose. I can't accept this. It's not good for anyone."
