Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hit back at press reports claiming he does not like to spend money by inviting a journalist to join him for a night out.
Wenger has been criticised for his lack of spending in the transfer market during his 20-year-tenure as Gunners boss.
However, the 66-year-old Frenchman disagrees with the assertion that he is a cheapskate.
In response to a journalist who suggested he does not like to spend money, Wenger replied: "No I don't agree with you.
"And if I invite you [out] one night.
"It's you the press that gave me that reputation but my friends don't think that!"
