Gabon and Arsenal captain Pierre Emerick-Augbamayeng believes Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey will play an important role in the Gunners campaign this season.

The 27-year-old arrived at Arsenal on transfer deadline day and has already shown glimpses of what he brings to the London club.

Impressed by his performances in three games, Arsenal captain Augbamayeng is already confident of the impact the ex-Atletico Madrid star adds to the club.

"He's very strong physically, but he's also so good on the ball. That surprised me. He is going to be a very important player for the team. We really didn't have a profile like this in our team before," said Aubameyang.

"In terms of the progression of the ball, beating the rivals, moving forward, will be very important for us," added the Gabonese player.

"Thomas has been great since he joined the club. He has integrated very well into the team. He is friendly, calm and smiling. On the pitch, we have already seen what he will bring to the games. My family is from Gabon, but I also have some roots in Ghana, where Thomas is from, so we are family too," concluded Aubameyang.
