Arsenal give green light for goalkeeper to make Roma return

Having left Wojciech Szczesny out of their preliminary pre-season tour squad, Arsenal appear happy to let the Pole return to Roma.

Szczesny spent the 2015-16 season with the Giallorossi, before returning to London this summer. However, as the Gunners prepare to tour the United States, they have opted to leave the goalkeeper at home.

According to Il Messaggero, the move now lies in the hands of Walter Sabatini, who will play a decisive role if Szczesny is to return or not.

The goalkeeper is now expected to return to the Stadio Olimpico on loan, with both clubs to split his €3 million salary, though it is not yet apparent how that sum will be divided.

In all competitions, Szczesny featured on 42 occasions for the Giallorossi last season, during which time he kept nine clean sheets.
