Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be delighted with the return of Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey who trained with the squad ahead of the team's Europa League game against Benfica on Thursday.

The 27-year-old picked up a muscle injury against Aston Villa in the Premier League and was substituted 15 minutes to end the game.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder has been on the sidelines nursing his injury for the past two weeks.

Partey returned to training on Saturday but was unfit to play against Manchester City

He is currently racing in time to pass a late fitness test to be available for the game against the Portuguese giants.

The first leg ended 1-1 in Rome.

Thomas Partey has been plagued by injuries since his move to Arsenal from Atletico Madrid last year.

He has made nine appearances in the Premier League and one in Europe for the Gunners.
